TD Bank representatives visit civic association meeting

The Take Back Your Neighborhood civic association last week welcomed two employees of the TD Bank branch at Levick Street and Roosevelt Boulevard.

Store manager Jamie-Lynn Marshbank and assistant store manager Bianca Otero brought brochures and discussed the bank’s drive-through service, savings accounts available to newborns, free money orders and discounted checks for people 60 and older and no-charge ATMs at Walgreens and Rite Aid.

Also, TD runs a summer reading program that rewards kids in first through fifth grades with $10 if they read 10 books.

In other news from the Jan. 28 meeting:

• Lt. Marc Rutizer and community relations officer Mark Mroz, of the 2nd Police District, provided crime updates.

Among the serious incidents Rutizer mentioned were robberies at the Home Depot, 4640 Roosevelt Blvd., and Dollar General, 5700 Oxford Ave., and a shooting involving an irate customer at a corner store at 898 Granite St.

Mroz reported that 20 of the 31 thefts from autos in the last month were from unlocked vehicles.

• A meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 21, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Exchange at Oxford Circle, 6434 Castor Ave., to discuss planned improvements to the commercial corridors on Rising Sun, Castor and Bustleton avenues.

• Take Back Your Neighborhood will meet on Monday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m. at Max Myers Playground, 1601 Hellerman St. ••
